Topic:  Learn how SharePoint 2013 Has Already Made You the Search Expert in Your Organization
Up until the SharePoint 2013 release, advanced search tuning and configuration were strictly the domain of search experts. After all, writing nested FQL expressions, customizing rank profiles with PowerShell, writing XSLT to customize search results, wiring up dictionaries for entity extraction, etc. are not for the faint of heart. Though you’ve likely heard many things about Microsoft’s investment in Search with this release, the most important is that they have made many of the most advanced and powerful features, heretofore reserved for search experts, accessible to everyone.

In this session Paul Olenick (SharePoint MVP and Microsoft V-TSP) will provide an intro and practical guide to using some of the more powerful Search features in SharePoint 2013 and, for illustration, will show how search engineers used to accomplish the same things before this release.

Attendees will leave with an understanding of SharePoint 2013’s powerful features for configuring search, giving them confidence to take search results in their organization beyond the status quo, without the need for a highly specialized skillset.

Speaker:
Paul Olenick
Strategic Consultant, AvePoint
Microsoft SharePoint MVP, VTSP
