Presentation Topic: Safely Managing the SharePoint Data Explosion
Sound corporate governance and compliance practices require that companies know when sensitive data (typically determined by corporate security policy and regulatory requirements from HIPAA, PCI, PII, etc.) is posted in corporate repositories and prevent its unauthorized exposure. The explosion of files and documents being uploaded to SharePoint from users across the organization has created the need to ensure that sensitive data is secured in SharePoint installations. Learn how companies are managing these data security issues, and what you can do today to start finding and securing data in SharePoint.

Speaker Bio: Erik Jarlstrom is Vice President, Technology Solutions for Dataguise (www.dataguise.com), a leading provider of data privacy protection and risk assessment analytics. Erik’s experience includes top management roles in technical, customer advocacy, project management and enterprise software pre-sales positions at companies including Application Security Inc., Princeton Softech, IBM, Delegata, AristaSoft and Oracle Corporation. He earned his B.A. in Finance and Management from Copenhagen Business School.

June 14th Topic: Driving SharePoint Adoption with Content Intelligence
Presented by: Toby Conrad, Senior Consultant, Smartlogic

Overview: Organizations designing and deploying SharePoint recognize that quality metadata is a critical factor in the system’s overall success. SharePoint Server 2010 ships with significant metadata enhancements that will spur enterprises to upgrade or adopt. However, semantic capabilities like autoclassification and entity extraction remain gaps in the SharePoint platform.

In this presentation, you’ll learn how you can:

  • Semantically enable your SharePoint (2007 and 2010) implementation with navigational taxonomies, ontologies and automated classification to significantly enhance your metadata quality
  • Utilize Semaphore, the Content Intelligent Platform to improve your migration, records retention, data loss prevention and business intelligence projects within SharePoint
  • Ensure that your SharePoint investment will provide a solid ROI for your enterprise

Suggested Audience: SharePoint Project Managers, Information Architects, Web Designers, Power Users and Business Analysts.

Speaker Bio: Toby Conrad is a senior consultant at Smartlogic. He has advised organisations such as NASA, Bank of America, Applied Materials, BNP Paribas, Oxy, Autodesk, Ford Foundation and others on Enterprise Semantics for search (MSFAST, Google Search Appliance, Apache/ Solr and many more) and content management systems (SharePoint 2007 & 2010, OpenText, Documentum and others).
