Question & Answer Session:

For this month’s user group, we thought it would be fun to mix it up a little bit! Rather than a presentation, this month, we’re going to do a forum style session where seasoned SharePoint practitioners answer questions submitted by the audience. So, if you have a question related to SharePoint, come have pizza and bring a SharePoint question or problem to the group. We’ll give out a $50 Amazon gift prize to the most interesting question (as voted by the group).

First Presentation Topic: Managing Change Control in SharePoint

In this session, Chris Chung (founder of Essention Group) will discuss SharePoint’s robust platform for delivering applications because it makes end users easily able to author applications. It is that very benefit that users can create some interesting challenges not present in traditional application development platforms. In this discussion, Chris will cover his experience and talk about better ways to handle application governance (how to limit, monitor and manage users’ access to the features in the application) and change management (how to effectively manage changes, upgrades, deployments, etc., and at the same time minimizing your risk). Having been in the field for a number of years, Chris will present what he’s seen at the implementation level and have an open forum discussion about how to specifically address issues.
